Background: Afghanistan has given birth to more than two million orphans. These children search for food and a place to hide on a daily basis. The country’s tragic history has destroyed many innocent lives. Most orphans end up on the streets, surviving harsh winters and hot summers with bare feet and ripped clothes.

Profile: Afghanistan born Shugla Ahmadi founded Sana Orphanage. Ahmadi says her heart was broken and she was praying to do something for her people. So far she has been able to save 5 boys and 30 fantastic girls. Her mission is to save them from the streets, from abuse and give them a roof over their head. She hopes her efforts will help them avoid becoming a suicide bomber. Ahmadi says she needs a bigger orphanage and the financial support to buy land and start construction. She asks for help to give the children a bright and successful future, to dream again. Her request is for people to do something today that will make them proud tomorrow.
